I can't tell you how much I adore these two! Not only are they just awesome people, Liz is also my cousin and my son's Godmother. These two got engaged after many many years together, and we are all just so excited and can't wait for the wedding in January! I should have blogged this engagement session months ago, and honestly cannot believe I forgot! I met this family about 2 years ago when Ashley was pregnant with baby Max. They purchased my Grow with Me Package (4 sessions over the baby's first year). I love when families go this route as we really get to know one another and at the end of the year, all the favourite images get put into a custom designed album for you to look back on forever.
Im just taking a moment to toot my own horn as I found out this emotional images of my best friend and her daughter, Emme, finished in the Top 100 image for the 2017 Shoot and Share Photo Contest! Out of over 9000 images in the "Emotion and Excitement" category! Yay!
This is one of my favourite images. We were playing on the beach and Emme had a little girl moment and needed her Mama to console her. Who knew me snapping the camera at that moment would become one of my favourite images ever.

I LOVE all of the trends thatI am seeing - they are interactive and fun and entertaining - all things you want your wedding to be! Weddings are not just for your parents to hang out with their friends anymore! They are a whole day dedicated to the couple and their most favourite people - a day to dance or party and celebrate and share in the love of the couple! That being said, every couple is different and many still stick to the more "traditional' wedding trends, but for those of you looking for some new ideas, here is a list of some recent trends I have been seeing (and LOVE!)
Recently I heard a funny story from a fellow photographer. She told us about one current Bride who "blocked" a friend who was also getting married from using said photographer for her own wedding. The photographer said the current Bride was kind and sweet and was not really sure why she was telling her friends not to book her. To be honest, this whole situation baffled me!
How do you want to remember your wedding? Of course we hope its imbedded into our minds forever but as time goes on some of those memories may start to fade. Its great we hire photographers to capture these moments forever, and you may want to have your photographer design you a beautiful heirloom album that can be passed down to your children and grandchildren. As we know, the times they are a changin' and digital files may be obsolete in a decade.
It was a cold and blistery morning. Minus 12 degrees (celsius) to be exact. But Jenna and Rory showed up to their engagement session at Palgrave Pond with smiles and coffee and a cute dog named Rosco. This pond is the most incredible place in the winter.
And to all you Moms, I am you. I know you worry about losing "those last 10 lbs" or getting the perfect haircut, or waiting until you feel better about something else in your life, but let's be honest here - there will ALWAYS be something, some reason to say "maybe later" and put off booking those family photos.

What a night, What a day actually! Kerri and Travis spent New Year's Eve 2017 with their closest friends and family for a cozy winter wedding ceremony at The Doctor's House Chapel, then inside to the Heritage room for plenty of laughs, drinks, a live band and some unexpected surprises!
Who wouldn't love going to a wedding on New Years, its a great reason to get dressed up and party the night away with 100 or more of your best people!
